About my experience:
Having been in the early education sector for over 40 years, initially as a Mothercraft Nurse, then gaining an Associate Diploma in Social Science then a Bachelor of Teaching (EC) I’ve educated in almost all service types.
Throughout my career, I have established an Occasional Care Centre in Sydney as well as an Occasional Care and LDC in rural NSW. I’m a strong advocate for high quality early childhood education, funding eligible services during the Preschool Growth Program and until recently was a regional representative with the IEU as well as a NESA Accreditation Supervisor. These roles, experiences and people’s paths I crossed, helped shape my practice in leadership and mentoring.
I’m a reflective practitioner, and have a keen interest in the practice of distributed leadership, the impact of our Why, Values and Beliefs, and how together, they impact practice.
What mentoring means to me:
Mentoring is an opportunity to listen to hear rather than just to respond, to create a space to celebrate the positives and unpack the challenges with authenticity and intention, creating an atmosphere of Safety, Mattering and Belonging.
I was attracted to The Dandelion Project as it aligns with my values, beliefs and my WHY. Through this project I will continue deepening my leadership practice, but also I’d like to give back in a support role to the most important educational sector.
Strengths and wisdom I bring:
I am a reflective thinker and a deep listener who encourages others, without judgement, to share their stories, in an atmosphere of trust, collaboration and intention. When these values align, magic happens!
